Music

 

The people of Vietnam have always been interested in the music and are very close to it. The music of Vietnam is very diverse and influenced by China, South Korea, Mongolia and Japan. The most popular musical instrument in the country is percussion which is followed by wind instruments and string instruments. Vietnam has almost 50 musical instruments. The country has two types of traditional music Imperial court music and Folk music. Imperial court music is just like it’s name and it was performed in the palaces of Tran and Nguyen. The Imperial court music is further divided into three categories Nha Nhac, Dai Nhac and Tieu Nhac. Folk music is more popular in the country and is inspired by the people of Vietnam. The popular forms of Vietnamese Folk music are Cheo, Quan Ho, Hat Chau Van, Ca Tru, Ho and Hat Xam.

 

Dance

 

The cultural dance of Vietnam is as popular and as much innovative as the music of the country. Dong Son Drums and relics from the Red River Delta are in the country since back to 600 BCE. More than 54 minority groups in Vietnam have their own traditional dances. Apart from the popular traditional dances, the dominant kinh ethnicity is known for a variety of new dance forms which are developed over the past centuries.
